Chiropractic Care
Chiropractic is the art, science and philosophy of adjusting the spine and extremity joints by hand to treat subluxation thereby optimizing vitality naturally. Subluxation is the misalignment of vertebra or other joints or tissues to a lesser degree than a dislocation that causes interference of communications within the nervous system and myofascial tension resulting in segmental and somatic dysfunction. Life experience sometimes comes with stresses to the body and mind such as traumas, toxins absorbed through our environment and thought patterns that no longer serve us. By correcting the vertebral subluxation misalignments in the spine that occur from time to time, we maximize the flow of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and flow of nerve communication for optimized vitality.
On the initial visit Dr. Sandy's approach to treating any patient is to evaluate thoroughly with a complete history, review of systems and comprehensive examination. Exams consist of postural evaluation, range of motion, orthopedic testing, neurological testing such as sensory function and muscle strength, and also palpation. Palpation is a hands-on evaluation of the patient's spine and extremities for joint misalignment, muscle spasms and tension, skin changes and connective tissue integrity.
Based on the patient's history and examination findings, x-rays may be medically necessary prior to beginning treatment. Once diagnosis is made, Dr. Trail reviews the patient's exam, pertinent x-rays and recommended care plan in a Report of Findings to give each patient and family the details necessary to make informed decisions about their health. Treatment plans are customizable for the needs of each patient, and recommendations may include a combination of chiropractic & physiotherapy such as somatic body work, myofascial release, therapeutic exercise, etc.
Prevention is always best with Chiropractic Wellness Care. Prevention is not always possible for everyone for all conditions. Chiropractic Corrective Care and Rehabilitation can help you restore function and regain control of your health.

“The power the made the body heals the body.” - B.J. Palmer
Functional Diagnostic Medicine is a field of study which is dedicated to uncovering the root cause to illness and disease and treating that underlying issue directly by supporting the needs of the body with Nourishment and Detoxification, rather than focusing on only easing or managing the symptoms. Within the body there is a natural ability to heal as long as there are there is not excess stress such as a nutrient deficiency.
Various methods may be used in evaluation and those most widely used are a comprehensive physical examination coupled with diagnostic tools such as:
Blood Chemistry Analysis
Hormone Testing
MicroNutrient Testing
Comprehensive Metabolic Testing
Gastrointestinal Function via Stool Analysis
Food Sensitivity & Allergy Testing
MicroBiome Testing
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis
Neurotransmitter Testing
Genomic / Genetic Testing
Thermography
Advanced Imaging
Environmental Toxin Testing
Recommendations are made as to restore homeostasis, which is the body's natural ability to regulate all functions in total wellness. A targeted treatment plan is designed specifically to meet needs and goals, and progress is monitored as changes are implemented over the course of the treatment plan. A specific food plan is needed as this is no doubt one of the most powerful ways to change the function of our bodies and our lives.
Botanical Medicine uses nutrients Plants in various forms such as tinctures, extracts, teas, fresh and dried herbs, flowers, barks, roots & saps in formulas to support the needs of the body. The Plant, Mineral & Fungi Kingdoms all have highly medicinal species and are vital tools to providing the bioactive molecules that are essentially the building blocks of our most basic elements required to survive and thrive. Essential minerals are vital for our most basic cellular functions like hydration, muscle contraction, nerve conduction, bone density, etc. Fungi contain a vast number of healing compounds for the body including nootropics, which are known for reducing inflammation and increasing neuroplasticity of the brain making new connections and supporting healthy memory and cognition.
Lifestyle Medicine is the investment of time and energy into assessment of health status using various testing methods and planning how to optimize total wellness, prevent disease and extend longevity as well as the determination to put that plan into action with continual growth. Assessment via genetic testing is performed to assess telemere length and genetic health. Telemeres are end caps of chromosomes that are made from tightly folded strands of DNA which serve to protect the chromosomes during cellular replication. Cellular replication is taking place within our cells every second of every day and lifestyle habits play a major role in how we express our genetics. The health of our telemeres determines our physiological age and longevity. Throughout our lifetime as our cells replicate over and over, some of the telemere length is lost, and the loss accelerates if the conditions inside the cell are acidic, toxic or dehydrated. When the conditions are not optimal inside the cell, mutations can occur in the DNA. Mutations are when genes are turned off and turned on, and the genetic code is changed. These mutations are called Single Nuclear Polymorphisms and can be influenced with environmental factors. Exercise, food, low stress levels, sleep, positive mindset and supportive social network are vital to wellness and longevity, and our activities and habits play a major role in our genetic health.
Functional Medicine
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), Red Light Therapy (RLT), or PhotoBioModulation Therapy, is a powerful phototherapy which stimulates the augmentation of nitric oxide in the cell facilitating healthy mitochondrial function and is supported by research to benefit patients who are experiencing conditions such as Peripheral Neuropathy, Neuropathic Pain Syndrome, Acne and other inflammatory and skin conditions.
The NIR Therapy is a whole body PhotoBioModulation Therapy which penetrates deep into the tissues of the body, safely raising the body's internal temperature to increase blood and lymphatic circulation for the facilitation of cellular detoxification, nutrient exchange and increased oxygen intake with deeper breaths leading to proper weight management, optimal cellular functioning and well-being.
Physiotherapy
“A body in motion stays in motion." - Sir Isaac Newton
Physiotherapy, also known as Physical Medicine or Rehabilitation, is the physical treatment for the body by various means to facilitate mobility, stability, healing of imbalances and promoting wellness. Types of physiotherapy include Manual Therapy, Near Infrared Sauna (NIR), Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), Therapeutic Exercise, Cupping, Kinesiotaping, etc.
Manual Therapy like involves using various techniques with the hands to treat problems within the soft tissues of the body such as myofascial adhesions, nerve impingement, tendonitis, muscle spasms, trigger points, scoliosis, et cetera that can arise from repeated use or old injuries, postural imbalances and nutrient deficiencies.
Therapeutic Exercise is the use of targeted muscular contraction and relaxation for the facilitation of mobility, balance and strength. Used alongside Chiropractic, there exists a powerful and effective Wellness Care Strategy for preventative medicine as well as Corrective Care strategy for patients experiencing the conditions listed above as well as others such as chronic injuries, pelvic floor dysfunction and post-surgical recovery, etc.
Cupping involves using circular cups and a vacuum suction held in place on the skin over a particular muscle over period of time with or without therapeutic exercise to facilitate the movement of tissues and to release muscular tension, trigger points, lactic acid and other inflammatory molecules while increasing blood flow to the area bringing new nutrients to the muscle cells for healthy functioning and prevention of injuries.

Kinesiotaping is a type of physiotherapy uses a special kind of tape the allows different degrees of stretch depending upon the reason it is being used that provides physiological support of soft tissues, stimulates proprioception and provides sensory input to the Central Nervous System to increase neurological stability and lower pain in the region it is applied. For example supporting athletes before and after events preventing injuries and aiding pulled muscles and sore backs, supporting Mom's pregnant bellies in pregnancy as well as lower back and sacroiliac joint stabilization, knee & shoulder joint stabilization and the like.
Yoga is the sacred art of living in unity. We hold space for celebrating the dance between the movement and stillness of life, cultivating ease and stability. As we practice postures, breathing and cleansing techniques with mindful intention to align the body and mind, we expand awareness of our internal and external environments. As we experience life and grow in our practice, the transformation naturally unfolds as new light is shone on the path forward with open hearts and peace in mind and body.
